President of the Board of Governors Notre Dame School, Cobham, England
I accepted the opportunity to Chair the Board of Governors of Notre Dame School Cobham thinking that I had spent so much of my life on International business activities that it was time to become more "grounded" and contribute in some small way to a local activity. I have a great belief in the importance of the teaching profession who can so heavily influence our next generation to create a better society. My commitment is in the significance of the role young women, with all of their wonderful gifts, could and should play in that future. In turn I believe that the full development of our young ladies could not be complete without their spiritual dimension being nurtured through a Catholic education. What better place than a 700 strong Catholic girls school in Cobham, England - just on my doorstep! As with all challenges we take on, one can be open to learning and developing. My passion for this Education Project has continually grown as the school educates me so much more than anything I can give - In particular the reflection about what is important in life from interactions with the Sisters of the Company of Mary Our Lady who have shown such compassion and wisdom in their approach to the ever changing demands of modern school life and of course seeing such happy children. And to think this was all inspired by someone with great vision 400 years ago: St Jeanne de Lestonnac .What a wonderful legacy and example to us all !" Regards
